Who provides calmbu
Calmbu is provided by Pipelion.co Ptd Ltd, trading as calmbu, from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. References to calmbu, we, us, and our mean Pipelion.co Ptd Ltd unless the context says otherwise.
Business registration details, ABN or ACN, and dedicated support and privacy contact details are provided through the app, purchase, or support channels where required.
What calmbu is
Calmbu is a local desktop backup and restore utility for Codex and Claude work state. It is not a generic backup app, cloud storage provider, emergency recovery service, cloud Claude account backup, or substitute for source control.
Calmbu creates local encrypted .calmbu snapshots in a destination you choose. You are responsible for choosing, protecting, and monitoring that destination, including any external drive, network share, cloud-synced folder, or third-party storage service you use.
Beta status and availability
Initial calmbu releases may be beta software. Features can change, installer availability can vary by region, and some functionality may be marked planned or coming soon. Use beta builds only if you accept that behaviour may change before a stable release.
Beta builds are provided for evaluation and personal backup testing. Do not rely on a beta build as your only copy of important work, credentials, or business-critical recovery material.
Licence to use the app
Subject to these terms, we grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use calmbu for your own lawful backup and restore purposes.
You must not sell, sublicense, rent, host, reverse engineer, bypass licence checks, remove ownership notices, interfere with security controls, or use calmbu to copy data you do not have rights to handle, except to the extent a restriction cannot legally apply.
Your responsibilities
- Choose a backup destination you control and can access.
- Understand that calmbu does not provide cloud backup storage for your chats, code, or backup contents.
- Keep important projects in source control where appropriate.
- Review restore previews before replacing live data.
- Keep Codex and Claude closed when performing any restore that could affect live tool state.
- Protect your device, backup destination, and licence information.
Free and Pro features
Free features include manual backups, weekly scheduled backup, restore from backups, basic snapshot history, and a local or bring-your-own backup destination.
Pro features are planned to include daily and hourly backups, advanced retention, backup health checks, richer restore workflows, advanced settings, and notifications. Pro availability depends on an active licence and applicable offline grace rules.
Feature lists, pricing, limits, platform support, and release timing may change. We will try to present material paid-feature limitations clearly before purchase.
Billing and renewals
Paid licences are planned to be sold through an authorised secure billing partner or merchant of record. Billing, taxes, payment processing, invoices, receipts, refunds, renewals, chargebacks, fraud checks, and payment method handling may be governed by that merchant's checkout and customer policies.
If a paid plan renews automatically, the renewal period, renewal price, cancellation path, and any trial or discount conditions should be shown at checkout or in the customer portal. You are responsible for cancelling before renewal if you do not want the subscription to continue.
If a lifetime license is offered, it means one-time access to the paid calmbu features described at checkout for that license. It does not guarantee that every future product, platform, third-party service, or separately sold add-on will be included forever.
Refunds and cancellations are handled through the merchant of record where applicable, subject to the checkout terms, these terms, and any non-excludable rights you have under Australian Consumer Law or other applicable consumer protection laws.
No guaranteed recovery
Calmbu is designed to reduce risk, validate snapshots, and make safer restores easier. No backup tool can guarantee recovery in every situation. Storage failure, user deletion, insufficient permissions, corrupted disks, malware, operating system changes, or incorrect destination choices can still cause data loss.
Credential and secret exclusions are designed to reduce risk, but no exclusion system can guarantee that every possible secret, token, credential, or sensitive file pattern will be detected. You should review backup settings and restore previews before relying on a snapshot.
Acceptable use
Do not use calmbu to violate law, bypass access controls, copy data you do not have rights to handle, reverse engineer licensing systems, or interfere with the service, website, or release infrastructure.
Downloads and infrastructure
The calmbu website and related services are intended to be hosted on DigitalOcean infrastructure in Australia where controlled by Pipelion.co Ptd Ltd. Public downloads, installers, release files, static assets, and checksums may be delivered globally through BunnyCDN or another content delivery network.
Global CDN delivery improves download availability and performance, but it can cause technical request data to be processed outside Australia. Calmbu backup contents are not distributed through the CDN.
Intellectual property
Calmbu, the calmbu name and branding, website content, app code, design, documentation, and release materials are owned by Pipelion.co Ptd Ltd or its licensors. You retain ownership of your own Codex and Claude data, code, prompts, backups, and other content.
Using calmbu does not give us ownership of your local backups or code. It also does not grant you ownership of calmbu software, branding, or infrastructure.
Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what calmbu does and does not collect. The core product boundary is that calmbu does not upload Codex or Claude chats, prompts, code, worktree contents, backup contents, file names, folder paths, repo names, usernames, or snapshot manifests to calmbu servers for backup storage.
Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate access to paid features, downloads, licences, support, or website services if you breach these terms, abuse the service, infringe rights, attempt to bypass licensing, create security risk, or fail to pay amounts due.
You may stop using calmbu at any time. Uninstalling the app does not automatically delete backups from destinations you control, and cancelling a paid licence does not remove local files from your device.
Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any guarantee, right, remedy, or liability that cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law or other applicable law.
To the maximum extent allowed by law, calmbu is provided without warranties of uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or complete operation. To the maximum extent allowed by law, Pipelion.co Ptd Ltd is not liable for indirect, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive loss, lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, lost business, lost goodwill, or replacement-service costs.
To the maximum extent allowed by law, Pipelion.co Ptd Ltd's aggregate liability for claims relating to calmbu is limited to the amount you paid for calmbu in the previous 12 months, or AUD $150 if you did not pay, except where a different remedy is required by non-excludable law.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, and applicable Commonwealth laws of Australia. Courts located in Victoria, Australia have non-exclusive jurisdiction, except where consumer law gives you a different right to bring a claim.
Changes
We may update these terms as the product changes. Material changes will be reflected by updating this page and, where appropriate, by notice in the app, checkout, customer portal, or support channels. Continued use after an update means you accept the updated terms.
